Anthony Spann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forrest Funeral Home - Hattiesburg on Sep. 26, 2025.
Our beloved father, Anthony Spann, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, departed from this life on September 25, 2025, to reside in his everlasting home in paradise, just days shy of his 71st birthday. Born on October 7, 1954, he was the seventh of ten children born to Bill and Mary Spann. As a dedicated family man, he cherished every moment spent with loved ones, whether it was fishing, traveling, or sharing meals filled with laughter, dancing and joy while hanging out on his deck. His passion for life extended to his work as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Hattiesburg for 37 years, where he found pride in his craft. He also enjoyed cooking and dancing, celebrating the simple pleasures of life. A sports enthusiast, he embraced every opportunity to cheer for his favorite teams. His warmth and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Anthony leaves behind four children: Chara Spann, Peaches (Sholanda) Spann Keys (JoeL); Felicia Spann-Boone (Myla); Sean White (Janice); A loving fiancée Aline Pack; three (3) brothers George Spann (Bonnie); Arthur Spann (Judy); Tommy Spann; one (1) sister Elaine Posey; two (2) aunts Joyce Spann; Ruby Lee Spann; and a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father Bill Spann, mother Mary Spann; his wife Barbara Spann; two brothers J.W. (Sonny Boy) Spann and Randall Spann, three sisters Lela Spann, Christine Williams, amd Gloria Jean Evans; one nephew Darry (Squirrel Lee) Hooker; and two aunts Henrietta Smith and Katie French.

Praying for the family and sending sincere condolences... I didn´t know Anthony but I was a classmate of Randall (Black) and remember Squirrel Lee when he was a young kid, I didn´t know he passed...I´m sorry for your losses and please know that I believe that those who are absent in life are standing in Heaven in the presence of God Almighty. God didn´t make any mistakes. We all will leave this life one day and those who proceeded us in death, will be waiting at Heaven´s Gate to welcome us home to our mansion and everlasting life! Grace and blessing to your entire family...
