Anthony Joseph Staten

Anthony (Tony) Joseph Staten, 68 of Gahanna (formerly Delaware, Westerville and Sugar Grove) found his peace at Cleveland Clinic on Tuesday, November 12th.
Tony was born on August 28, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to Harold and Barbara Staten. He attended Westerville High School (class of 74) then attended apprenticeship school for Sheetmetal Workers Local 24. After working throughout the United States with Doody Company, he began working for and eventually becoming an owner of Columbus Heating and Ventilation Company. He was also on the Union Board for 20 years, overseeing two decades of apprentices.
He was the brother of William (Mimzi) Staten, Pamela (Pete) Gerardi, Lisa Staten, Bobbi Jo (Scott) Cherryholmes, and Sylvia Staten. His biggest accomplishment growing up was total terrorism of his sisters, but as adults, he was just a phone call away if anyone ever needed him.
He was the husband of 42 years to Kathleen (Horn) Staten, father to Fawn (Derek) Christie, John (Jennifer) Staten, and Jason (Jessica) Staten. He was the grandfather of Adley and Raylan Staten, and had numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was a father by love to Kimberly (Nate) Shultz.
He was a kind and caring husband and father. First impressions were often of a quiet and gruff, no-nonsense man. However, anyone who knew him is full of stories of Tonys kindness and selflessness. Despite everything he accomplished, his proudest moments were being a grandfather. He loved nothing more than throwing the ball with Raylan or golfing with Adley.
His receiving of friends will be Wednesday, Nov 20, 2024 at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville (55 East Shrock Road) from 3:30-7pm. His funeral will be at Moreland at 11am on Thursday.
