Anthony Tallarida Obituary
Anthony Allison Tallarida
On December 28, 2023, with his children holding his hands, at the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota, Tony gained his wings. Tony was the leader of his extensive family and the toughest fighter all his life, especially in the last two years. Although Tony, at 63 years old, won his extensive battle with pancreatic cancer several months ago, he ultimately lost his life due to other extraordinary health complications that were unimaginable.
Born on March 25, 1960, to Giacomo Tallarida and Barbara J (Schutt) Tallarida, into a large tight knit and supportive family, Tony was the oldest of his 6 other siblings. Tony grew up in Elkland, PA, where he was known for wrestling, baseball, track and winning several dance competitions with his sister Kathy. Because of his amazing dance skills, he was also invited to appear on American Band Stand with Dick Clark. Tony was well loved by all of his friends and classmates which led to him being elected Class President for two years, he managed and ran the teen center, and graduated from Elkland High School Class of 1978. Tony went on to become an extremely successful entrepreneur, owning and operating several companies within the surrounding communities including Schutts Scrap Yard, Campbell Auto Parts, Tallarida's Quality Used Cars and owning several rental properties. Tony was also a special finance manager for Whitcomb Ford.
As Tony was a leader, not a follower, he did things his way and welcomed his first daughter Krista Irene (Ellison) Hudson on July 18, 1979, and was reunited with her later in life. Tony met Melinda Marie Hernandez in 1983 and adopted Richard Nicholas Tallarida, then shortly afterwards welcomed his first-born son Giacamo Floyd Tallarida on June 29, 1984, who was his pride and joy. Finally, Tony's prayers were answered when he was able to welcome his baby girl Maurica Nicole (Tallarida) Gloria into the world on August 18, 1987. Tony married the love of his life Melinda on June 15, 1985. Their love story was something people only heard of in movies, they traveled the world together as a family and took pride in being a major part of their children's lives before divorcing. Although they divorced after 28 years together, it was their crazy story and no one else could ever understand. They remained on speaking terms until his last days.
Tony's whole world was his family. When meeting all the staff and nurses at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota it was proven how proud Tony was of his children and grandchildren, as they knew who we each were and everything about us. Tony's team told us several stories of late-night conversations he had with them and how much he looked forward to coming back home to be a part of our everyday lives again. Tony's love for his children and grandchildren was endless. He enjoyed being a part of their everyday lives, whether it was helping his children chase the next deal on a rental property or a car to flip. Tony enjoyed time with each of his grandchildren from watching Braeden's football games, hunting with Giovanni, date nights with Anunziatta, chess matches with Renzo, and trips for fishing and cheerleading competitions with Oaklie-Rae. All of his grandchildren were the light in his eyes. Tony enjoyed his summers at Cranberry Lake and was looking forward to opening day fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his father Giacomo and step mother Audrey Tallarida of Cando, North Dakota, his siblings: brother Nicholas (Linda) Tallarida of Phoenix AZ, sister Mary Ann Miraglia of Corning NY, sister Teresa (Michael) Lacey of Rochester MN and brother Giacomo (Terese) Tallarida of Corning NY, children: Krista (Jeff) Hudson of Beaver Dams NY, Richard (Mary) Tallarida of Elmira NY, Giacamo (Jackie) Tallarida of Horseheads NY, and Maurica (Rick) Gloria of Painted Post NY, grandchildren: Braeden (Natilee) Hudson, Giovanni Tallarida, Annunziata Tallarida, Renzo Gloria, Oaklie-Rae Gloria and Richie Tallarida. Tony is also survived by his special Uncle, who was more of a father and best friend, Floyd (Teresa) Schutt and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tony is also survived by his godchildren: Tera (Shay) Smithmen, Joe Iannarilli, Sergio Hernandez, Joe Lacey, and Alexandria Alicea.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Jean (Schutt) Tallarida, his sisters, Kathy Boyer, Angelina Tallarida, and special cousin "brother" Herminio Iannarilli (JR).
Tony's family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and staff at the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minnesota especially Dr. Warner and his surgical team, and Dr Cilip of Ageless Spa and Medical of Corning, New York for their dedication and devotion to Tony's medical case. As well as his Uncles Floyd and Roy Schutt, and brother Giacomo Tallarida, for all their love and support and travels with him back and forth to the Mayo Clinic.
The family welcomes all relatives and friends to Acly-Stover Funeral Home 327 E 2nd St, Corning, NY 14830, on Thursday January 4th from 3-6pm, feel free to join us in wearing his favorite color blue.
