Anthony Tortu Obituary
He is survived by his children - Maria (Steven), Angela, Tony, and Brandon (Mary)-his grandchildren Luk, Oliver, and Avery, his brother Dino (Olympia), his 2nd wife Marylyn and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born in Camden, Skeets grew up surrounded by food, music, and traditions of an extended Italian family. After graduating from Seton Hall University, he married Marie Verdiglione and together they built an iconic South Jersey nightclub setting trends through several incarnations - among them 23 Skidoo, Skeets Psychedelic, Some Place Else and Chaps - along with The Lighthouse seafood restaurants.
Known for his humor, warmth, and irresistible charm. Skeets was happiest on the water whether boating, waterskiing, or fishing. For many years he lived aboard his boat and was Harbor Master of Miami Beach Marina. His real passion was golf, boasting 6 lifetime hole in ones.
In keeping with his wishes, Anthony will be cremated and his ashes scattered in the Atlantic Ocean.
A Memorial Service will be held in New Jersey with details to follow.
