Anthony Edward Turner Sr. was a funny, big-hearted man who never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to help someone in need. He passed away on January 01, 2026, at the age of 77 surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of service, hard work, laughter, and deep devotion to his family.
Anthony was born to Edward (Ed) and Tommie on March 09, 1948, in
Yale, Oklahoma where he was raised on the family farm growing watermelons. He graduated from Yale High School in 1966 and married the love of his life, Barbara on June 03, 1967. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1969 and proudly served until 1976. During his military career, Anthony was stationed in Hawaii, California and Germany giving him experiences that shaped his worldview and strengthened his love for family and country.
After completing his military service, Anthony returned to
Yale, Oklahoma, where he raised his family and built a long and respected career as a welder in the oil and gas industry. Known for his skill, strong work ethic, and reliability, he took immense pride in honest labor and in providing for those he loved.
Anthony was a longtime member of the Yale Church of Christ, where his faith guided the way he lived and served others. He was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, first leading a troop while stationed in Hawaii and later serving as a council member and mentor for the Yale BSA troop. Following retirement, Anthony became an active member of the Yale American Legion, serving as commander until his health no longer allowed him to continue.
A natural conversationalist, Anthony had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Whether sharing a story, cracking a joke, or offering a helping hand. He gave freely of his time and heart to those in need. His kindness left an impression on friends, coworkers, and even strangers.
Anthony was a devoted husband and father. He shared 58 loving years of marriage with his wife and was a caring father who believed his children were perfect in every way. He supported them fiercely, loved them unconditionally, and took immense pride in the people they became. He found joy in life's simple pleasures-especially dove hunting and fishing-happiest when outdoors and surrounded by good company.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his children Nancy, Anthony and his fiancé Christie, Andrew, Ellen and her fiancee Conner; his grandchildren Scott Phipps, Jonathan, Kori, and Lillian, Michelle her husband Arron, Austin, and Bailey; his great grandchildren Johnny and Dewy; his sister Clarissa Clawson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Anthony Edward Turner Sr. will be remembered for his humor, generosity, service to his country, and the enormous heart he carried throughout his life. Though he will be deeply missed, his stories, laughter, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
