Anthony Lamar Tyler, 69, of Durham, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. He was born on July 1, 1955, to the late Lamar George Tyler (father) and Mattie Lee Tyler (mother).
Anthony is survived by his brother, Douglas Edward Tyler (Emily); niece, Sophie Mills (Thomas) and great niece, Bonnie Rose Mills.
As a child Anthony enjoyed spending time with his family. Especially when they would travel on vacations. He was a very good student and was also a great chess player. He attended UNC Wilmington studying Marine Biology.
While in college he had some health concerns, so he ended up going back home and living many years with his Mom and Dad. He loved being home and enjoying life with them. He liked to study astronomy and enjoyed looking through his telescope. He also enjoyed playing his guitar from time to time at home.
After his parents passed away Anthony went to an assisted living facility to live. Anytime Doug would visit Anthony made sure to tell him he wanted to go home. We knew home to him was his safe place where he had lived many years and had many fond memories of being at. Anthony will be very missed by his family.
A Private service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anthony's memory to Bethel Christian Center, 3518 Rose of Sharon Rd., Durham, NC 27712.
