Anthony "Tony" Wishinsky, age 62, passed away March 25,2024 at his home in Watford City, N.D. Tony was born on August 3rd, 1961, in Paris, France. Tony was the son of Steve and Helen Wishinsky. He grew up in a military family, traveling the world before the family settled in New Rockford, ND. While growing up in New Rockford, Tony enjoyed playing football, hunting and especially loved fishing. Tony was an avid fisherman most of his life and enjoyed spending quiet time at the lake casting and reeling for the "big one." Tony grew up in the restaurant business working at "Poppa's" Pizza Parlor and spending many hours in the "Wagon" during the summer. Upon high school graduation, Tony attended Culinary School in Fargo and returned to New Rockford to work in the family restaurant business. He worked at John's Country Club Steakhouse for several years before moving to Fargo. Tony was the Head Chef at the Expressway lnn in Fargo before moving to Watford City to open Burgerrito's. Tony married Shawn Swedberg in 2013. She was the love of his life, and they shared life's trials and joys until her passing in 2015. Burgerrito's was a local favorite in the early years and had many amazing employees and customers that became family to each other while they were often miles away from their own families.
Tony is survived by his stepsons, Kaine and Drake Sax; sister, Caroline (Wishinsky) Hopkins, Apache Junction, AZ; niece, Laura Wishinsky; nephews, Andrew, and Jacob Wishinsky, Andrew, Tyler and Evan Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shawn (Swedberg) Wishinsky; parents, Steve and Helen Wishinsky; sister, Anna (Wishinsky) Carlson; sister, Barbara Wishinsky-King; brother Paul Wishinsky.
