In Loving Memory of
Anthony "Tony" Zona Jr.
Anthony "Tony" Zona Jr., 82, of Naperville, Illinois, passed away on August 6, 2025.
Raised in Steger, Illinois, Tony was a graduate of Bloom High School. As a freshman, he earned a position on the varsity track and field team, contributing to four consecutive state championships - a remarkable achievement he carried with pride throughout his life. He went on to build a long and respected career as a heavy equipment operator and was a devoted member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tony was a practicing taxidermist and a passionate bowhunter. He shared his love for archery by teaching at the local park district. Tony also channeled his creativity and business sense into owning and operating an African safari booking company and later a jewelry store in Flossmoor. Tony was a lifelong fan of The Honeymooners, sometimes quoting Jackie Gleason's famous one-liners.
He is remembered by his sons, Charles Zona (Valerie Yeager) and Nicholas Zona (Kim); his grandchildren, Jessica, Violet, and Lilyana; and his great-grandson, Enzo. He is also survived by his brothers, Terry Zona (Susan) and Tim Zona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Zona Sr. and Kathleen Zona (née Wetzel).
A memorial service celebrating Tony's life will be held on
