Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 14, 2025.
Antoinette Galante, 95, peacefully passed from us in the early morning hours of October 14th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug 1, 1930 in the town of Guardiagrele situated in the Province of Chieti and located in the Region of Abruzzo. Second child to Luigi & Rosaria Naccarella, sibling to older sister Argentina and younger brother, Anthony. All of whom pre-deceased her.
The family began their began immigration to the U.S. in the 1920's, with all finally arriving to start family life anew here in the late 1930's. Her family life journey continued on 187th street, in the Belmont section of the Bronx. She married Anthony Galante (Tony) in May of 1957, at Mt Carmel Church, then settling in lower Westchester, village of Tuckahoe, and raised their 5 children and spouses/significant others, Robert (Kathy), Michael (Teresa), Peter (Denise), Barbara, and Paul (Tonja). She was 'grandma' to her 6 Grandchildren and their spouses/significant others, Christopher (Jaimie), Kevin (Stephanie), Stephen (Lacey), Sarah, Scott, and Christian (Brianna); her 3 Great-Grandchildren, Noah, Luca, and Joseph. Also aunt and great aunt to nieces and their spouses Paula (Nicky), Rosemary (John) and their extended families.
Her beloved Tony passed away unexpectantly in 1984, but she picked up the pieces and continued to provide tireless, unending love, and support to her entire family throughout her life with us. She is now with him again after so many years.
A woman of remarkable talent and work ethic, she could be frequently found preparing abundant meals for us all, or for individuals who passed through just for a quick visit. No one ever left hungry, always with a hug and a kiss, with a plate in tow for a future meal, and a 'please ring the phone twice when you get home' request. Every summer, she was known to be cooking and jarring tomatoes (sometimes over 100 quarts) from her large backyard garden to use weekly as the year progressed. Her antipasto platters were endless and legendary, along with the 'honey balls' made for her children to take home and enjoy at Christmas and Easter Holidays with their families. She spent many late hours at Stoffel Seals to help support our family, and enjoyed her time spent at Epstein's helping customers/families in making their clothing selections and staying in touch with the village goings on.
To all mom's Doctors, nurses, nurse aides, support staff, etc., we cannot thank you enough for the efforts and kindness tendered on our Mom's behalf. A special note of thanks to Alexis Brim, who helped us immeasurably with Mom in her final months with us.
Mom, you are already missed terribly by us all. We will forever love you and hold you and Dad close to our hearts in all that we do. Watch over and guide us all in your Heavenly home. Arrivederci, Mom. Until we meet again. Love you always.
