Antoinette "Gerry" (Tercha) Tkacz, age 83, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on October 31, 2024. Gerry was raised in Chester, PA, and graduated from Chester High School. She resided in Glen Mills, PA, and was formerly a resident of Ocean View, DE, where she cherished her home by the beach.
In 1959, Gerry married the love of her life, John Tkacz Jr., the owner of the Madison Grille in Chester. They shared 60 beautiful years together, filled with love and adventure. John affectionately called her "Dolly," and their favorite moments were spent watching the sunset. Nearly every evening, John would take Gerry out on their boat, turn off the motor, and together they would take in the beauty of the sun sinking below the horizon.
Gerry loved fishing and crabbing, making the most of their life by the sea. She and John were known for their hospitality, often entertaining friends who they considered family. Gerry was an exceptional cook and hostess, always saying, "The more, the merrier!" or "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!" The couple's home was always open, and their warmth left a lasting impression on all who visited.
Her infectious sense of humor and caring spirit endeared her to everyone she met. Gerry loved to travel and made countless memories with her loved ones. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren, and she brought laughter and love into their lives and into the hearts of many.
Gerry didn't have a sister, but her lifelong friend Frances "Fran" Hale was like one. They had known each other since they were very young and shared a bond like no other, supporting each other through every stage of life. Together, they created countless hilarious memories and were affectionately known as Lucy (Gerry) and Ethel (Fran). Their loving, laughter-filled friendship was one of a kind.
She cherished her children and her children cherished her. She was a loving mom and
the lifelong memories we share together as a family will forever be in our hearts!
In addition to her parents, Anthony Tercha and Helen Hill (Laskowski) Gerry was
preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John Tkacz Jr., who passed in
2020, and her brother, William (Sonny) Tercha.
She is survived by her two children: John Tkacz (Nicki) and Debbie Civitella (Michael),
and sister-in -law Sophie Wildrick (Jim), as well as four grandchildren: Rick Lehman, Ryan Lehman (Halley), John Tkacz (Erica), Brianna, and her great-grandson, Wyatt Tkacz
Services and burial will be private.
