Joan Darlene Tkacz 85, of Schererville. passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband Art Tkacz whom she was married to for 43 years. She is survived by her three children: Arthur (Gayle) Tkacz, Darlene (Richard) Bomba, and Lisa (Wayne) Micka; nine grandchildren: Kaitlin (Bret Keil fiancé) Bomba, Chelsea (Jonathan) Horn, Allison (Nikolaus) Schultz, Mallory (Zane) Bolka, Bobby Meier, Marty Meier, Wayne Micka II, Taylor Micka, and Bailey Micka; five great-grandchildren: Luka Schultz, Liliana Schultz, Macy, Molly and Jack.
Joan Worked at Edison School and Jones Clinic, Medical Specialists. She Loved gardening, knitting and taking care of her koi pond. She Was a volunteer for meals on wheels for 10 years and Knitted hats for the homeless veterans and cancer patients. She especially loved spending time at their lake house with family and friends.
Visitation with the family will be on Monday August 4, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m., at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 440 Joliet St., Dyer, IN, on Tuesday August 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Schererville, IN.
Joan will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.

I knew Joan at Edison. She was very thoughtful toward everyone and and enjoyed working with all of us. Joan gave of herself to others in her life and will be missed by her friends and family.
I am so sorry that I am unable to attend Joan's visitation.
