Anton John Leppler, 82, passed away September 27, 2024, at his home in Jim Thorpe. Anton was born at Hazelton Hospital July 30, 1942, and grew up in Weatherly. As an adult he lived both in Elizabethtown and Split Rock, Lake Harmony. He was the son of the late Myra (Leppler) D'Andrea.
He was a policeman for many years and then with dedication worked his way up to be the Executive Secretary of the Harness Racing Commission for the State of Pennsylvania. He was police chief for Kidder and Derry Townships. Anton also remained in law enforcement as an uncontested constable in the Poconos throughout his lifetime and even into retirement.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter his entire life. He loved the outdoors, fishing annually in Canada and hunting throughout the northeast and Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. His favorite place to do both was in his beloved Poconos.
He helped many children gain enrollment in the Milton Hershey School.
He was proceeded in death by his first wife; his mother; and his brothers, Paul and Ralph D'Andrea.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy (Crothers) Leppler; a daughter; two sons; second wife; a sister; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 211 First St., Weatherly.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
