April L. Nickols, 66, of Oquawka, IL, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at her home.
April was born April 1, 1958 in Monmouth, IL the daughter of Joseph Edwin and Helen Vernon (Yaeger) Mettler. She was raised and educated in Monmouth, attending Monmouth High School.
April married Arthur D. “Dean” Nickols on November 1, 1974 in Monmouth and he survives.
She was a homemaker and worked for a time as a Seamstress at Protexall in Galesburg.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing but most of all her children, grandchildren, husband and family were her passion.
Survivors include her husband, Dean Nickols of Oquawka; her 3 daughters, Sherry (Anthony) Lucas of Alabama, Kristina Nickols of Oquawka and Tiffany (DeAndre) Johnson of Monmouth, IL; son-in-law, Billy Lantau of Monmouth; 9 grandchildren, Jordan Lucas, Joshua Lucas, Tyler Dean (Ally) Lantau, Corgan Lantau, Adessa Lantau, Aundreya Johnson, Silas Johnson, Cody Johnson and Makell Johnson; 2 great-grandchildren, Amina Tovar and Ryan Dean Lantau; her brother, Rex (Debbie) Mettler of Monmouth and her sister, Helen (Doug) Meyers of Abingdon, IL; countless nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 4 sisters, and her beloved nephew/son, Allen Nickols.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am, Monday, August 12, 2024 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. No visitation hours are planned. Memorials may be given to the April Nickols Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
