April Sparks Obituary
April Ann Sparks, age 57 of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025 at her residence.
April was born on April 14, 1968 in Indianapolis, a daughter of Tom Carpenter and Jean (Buchanan) Carpenter. She is preceded in death by her father Tom Carpenter in 1979. She is survived by her mother Jean Carpenter.
She was married to: Ricky Boyd. Ricky has preceded her in death.
April married Jason Alan Sparks on September 26, 2009. He survives in Greenwood.
She is also survived by her children: Dustin Carpenter, Derik Boyd, Katie (Mykel Wininger) Boyd, Ciera Sparks, Heather Sparks and Breanna Sparks.
Her grandchildren: Joyce, Kayleigh, Kailyn, Carla, Journee, Brenna, Lilly, Derik Jr., Tristen and Kairis.
Three siblings: Colleen Carpenter, Jimmy Carpenter, and Brenda Carpenter.
Many other family members and relatives survive, including very special cousins Angie, Jamie and Kelly.
April is preceded in death by her father Tom Carpenter and her grandmother: Maryrue Buchanan.
April grew up in Indianapolis on the Westside. She attended Ben Davis High School, graduating in the class of 1987. Throughout her professional career she worked in the business office for the family’s trucking/transportation company.
Throughout April’s years she enjoyed many things including music, going to the casino, spending time at the Legion with her Legion family. She loved to shop for any occasion and buy things for her grandchildren. She loved to be in the sun and swim. She was the life of the party and the kindest soul anyone could ever meet. She was easy going, happy go lucky and never knew a stranger.
Most importantly April was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, family member and friend to many who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park, located at 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46222.
An additional visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM -- also at Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park.
April's funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.
Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
Flanner Buchanan - Floral Park has charge of arrangements.
