In Loving Memory of Aquilina “Gigi” Bucoy Magsalin
June 13, 1951 – October 13, 2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Aquilina “Gigi” Bucoy Magsalin, who passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Athens, Georgia, at the age of 74. Born on June 13, 1951, in Manila, Philippines, Gigi lived a vibrant, faith-filled, and joy-filled life that touched everyone around her.
Gigi was the beloved wife of Reynaldo Magsalin and the devoted mother of Ronda Gigi Barnes, Ronald Gaines Barnes Jr., Ricky Malcolm Barnes, and AnnieRay Magsalin. She was the cherished daughter of Fernando Martinez Bucoy and Flaviana Pamintuan Benoya, and a loving sister to Emmanuel Bucoy, Belen Bautista, Luz Balderara, Juanita Bucoy, Virginia Dela Paz, Fernando Bucoy Jr., and Renato Bucoy. Gigi’s legacy of love continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adored their “Lola Gigi.”
Gigi lived life with an open heart and a warm smile. She found joy in traveling, dancing, and sharing meals with friends, always the first to bring energy and laughter to any gathering. She was deeply committed to her community through the Filipino American Association of Northeast Georgia, Couples for Christ, and her beloved Social Security Squad—where her joy and kindness left a lasting mark.
An avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, Gigi loved her Saturdays cheering “Go Dawgs!” Her enthusiasm for life, family, faith, friendship, and dancing was truly contagious and inspiring.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gigi’s remarkable life:
