Today, we celebrate the life and eternal love of our beloved daughter, sister and aunt and everyones favorite person, Araksi Arabaciyan, also known as our "Yaya." She was born in Istanbul, Turkiye on August 28, 1935. The second child and only daughter of Arusyak Sargavakyan and Diran Arabaciyan, and younger sister of Manuel Arabaciyan. She left Istanbul at age 20 with her mother to join her brother in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She became a loving and devoted aunt to Susana Beatriz Arabaciyan (b. 1963), Martin Diran Arabaciyan (b. 1966), and Alicia Noemi Arabaciyan (b.1967). When her brother moved to the United States in 1971, she and her mother followed in 1983. With the whole family together again, she spent the rest of her life in the United States. She worked at Merdinian Armenian School for nineteen years. After retirement, she enjoyed dancing, visiting casinos, shopping, eating at her favorite restaurants and camping. She spent much of her time in service to others. For example, she knitted countless blankets for the Armenian community at Ararat Home in Mission Hills.
Loved by all who knew her, she is remembered with great affection, love and gratitude for her humor, devotion and selflessness. Always the best dancer at any gathering, the best cook in the family, and the first one to accept an invitation to go out, she deeply appreciated the company of her family and friends who remember her as the best person in their world. She was also the best joke-teller in the family. She was our treasure and shall remain so for all the rest of our lives. She has gone ahead of us, but we will cherish for an eternity her loving and exemplary spirit of kindness, devotion and affection.
Thank you, Yaya, for all that you gave. Your presence is felt, and we will aspire to live as you did, with humor, appreciation and unlimited love for others.
