Archie Lee Barrilleaux, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 15, 2025, in Cleveland, Texas at the age of 86. Born on October 22, 1938, in Highlands, Texas, Archie lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community, and faith.
In 1975, Archie embarked on a successful business venture, establishing a presence in the grocery industry with the purchase of stores in Splendora, Porter, New Caney, Forest Cove, and Patton Village, TX. His most notable achievement came with the grand-opening of Archie's Food Basket in Splendora on February 7, 1982, where he served the community with passion and commitment until retiring in 2020.
Education was an important part of Archie’s early life, as he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1957 and attended Lee Junior College. Throughout his life, Archie demonstrated his faithfulness as a devoted servant of The Lord and valued the friendships he cultivated along the way. He was known for his love of fishing and hunting, often relishing time spent outdoors.
Archie's family was a source of immense pride and joy. He is survived by his cherished wife of 67 years, Jane Barrilleaux; three sons, Glen Barrilleaux and wife Becky, Chris Barrilleaux and wife Michelle, and Brian Barrilleaux and wife Dana; a brother, Melvin Barrilleaux and wife Donna; a sister-in-law, Linda Barrilleaux; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Caleb Barrilleaux, Canaan Barrilleaux and wife Jennifer, Brooke Barrilleaux, Christopher Barrilleaux and wife Natalie, Hollie Barrilleaux, Brian Barrilleaux and Travis Carrington, Brandon Barrilleaux and wife Meredith, Andrew Barrilleaux and wife Rebecca, Colby Wilcox and Gabbie, great-grandchildren Brandelyn Barrilleaux, Briston Barrilleaux, Boston Barrilleaux, Hadli Barrilleaux, Bellamy Barrilleaux, Baylor Barrilleaux, Caleb Barrilleaux, Jr., Adalynn Barrilleaux, Cason Barrilleaux, Pailyn Barrilleaux, JoJo Barrilleaux, Houston Barrilleaux, Scout Barrilleaux, Jack Barrilleaux, Truett Barrilleaux, Wren Wilcox, Robin Wilcox, June Parffrey and Kaden McCoy, all of who brought joy to his life.
Archie's dedication to community service is evidenced by his role as a Charter member of the East Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce since 1981, where he also served as Vice President, member of Gideons, and Director of Park National Bank. His commitment extended to the First Baptist Church in Plum Grove, Texas, where he contributed on the finance committee and served as Treasurer, as well as being a board member for the Splendora Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Phillip Barrilleaux and Minnie Istre, and his brothers, Lionel Barrilleaux and Louis Barrilleaux and wife Judy. Archie Lee Barrilleaux leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and community spirit that will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation for Archie will be held on February 18, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas. A funeral service will take place on February 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the same location, followed by interment at Splendora Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
