Argus Ray Singleton, age 80, of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at his home.

He was born on September 2, 1945, in Hazard, Kentucky, a son of the late Willie and Pearlie (Jent) Singleton. Argus resided in Sturgis since 1966, coming from Kentucky.

Most of Argus's working life was spent in the RV industry, and he was also employed at Paramount Furniture Company in Sturgis.

Argus proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4). He was trained as a Communication Center Specialist and was awarded the Parachute Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He enjoyed woodworking and had a special appreciation for classic automobiles, especially convertible ragtop Oldsmobiles.

Argus is survived by his sons, Michael King of Sturgis and Shawnee King of Gobles; sisters, Burnette Amburgey of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Nellie Payton of Sturgis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Madeline Hill; and brothers, Carlie Singleton, Earl Singleton, and Floyd Singleton.

In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service and burial of the remains will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, at a later date to be announced. Full military honors will be conferred by the Fort Custer Cemetery Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
