Died: March 24, 2026 in Oregon, IL
Arlan LeRoy McClain, 79, of Dixon, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL.
Arlan was born on June 5, 1946, in Wamego, KS, the son of Vencille and Viola (Strimple) McClain. He married Bonita "Bonnie" Zinda on August 7, 1971, in Appleton, MN. They spent nearly 51 years together before her passing on March 29, 2022.
Arlan served as the CEO of Kreider Services in Dixon for 37 years. If there was a board, Arlan was most likely a member of it. He proudly served on the Kreider Services Board of Directors, Open Sesame Board, Lee County Board, and as President of the Dixon Rotary Club. Arlan was a public servant in every sense of the word. He made numerous trips to Springfield, where he served as a voice for individuals with disabilities, helping to lay the foundation for laws to better serve them.
Arlan loved to travel. He enjoyed his yearly trips to his favorite place, Jamaica, as well as his many dinners and trips with the "Friday Night Group." When the weather was warm, you would most likely find him golfing or boating on the Rock River.
Arlan's children and grandchildren were his proudest accomplishment. He found great joy in coaching his children in sports and cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines. Arlan was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini.
Arlan is survived by his children, Jill (Christopher) Maida and Nathan (Calli) McClain; six grandchildren, Joshua and Lucas Maida, and Lauren, Mackenzie, William, and Brady McClain; and one brother, Eldon (Dixie) McClain.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bonnie McClain.
