ARLEEN KLUG

Arleen Klug, age 93, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025. The many lives she touched will remember her kindness, cheerful outlook and love for her family and friends.
Arleen was born in Bertha, Minnesota, to Albert and Clara Swanson on May 19, 1932. She lived in Minnesota until her family moved to Battle Ground in 1948, during her sophomore year in high school. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 1950.
She met Arnie Klug at St. John’s Lutheran Church youth group. They were married in September 1953 and moved to Bellingham to finish his education degree at Western Washington University. They moved back to Battle Ground after graduation, where Arnie spent 30 years in the Battle Ground School District as teacher and principal. After their six children entered school, Arleen worked for the Battle Ground School District as a reading specialist for 22 years.
She was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed many hobbies and interests including growing dahlias, making flower arrangements, canning their garden produce, sewing, crafting, square dancing, travel and church activities.
During retirement, she and Arnie bought a second home in Indio, California, where they enjoyed sunny warm weather and a long list of social events during the winter months.
Arleen was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie, the love of her life for 68 years. She will lovingly be remembered by her children, Jane (Scott) Brattebo, Jerry (Lola) Klug, Jon (Janine) Klug, Randy (Dagmar) Klug, Ron (Cindy) Klug, and Lori (Norbert) Pawelzick; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim Swanson (Nancy); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Arleen on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Battle Ground.
