Arlena Dawn Bates, 51, of Canton passed away unexpectedly in her home on Wednesday, March 11. Born in Canton, on April 9, 1974, she was the daughter of Linda (Hall) Bates and the late Alexander Bates. Arlena had a spirit that could light up any room she walked into. Her warmth, laughter, and bright personality made people feel instantly welcome. She had a rare gift for bringing people together and making everyone feel like family. To many, she truly was a mom-always ready with comfort, wisdom, and open arms. Known for her incredible kindness, Arlena was the kind of person who would give her last to help someone in need. Her heart was generous beyond measure, and she never hesitated to support those around her. She was also known for her wisdom; if you needed advice, Arlena was the person you went to. She had a way of listening deeply and offering guidance that came from love, experience, and a truly thoughtful mind. Arlena lived her life authentically and stayed true to herself. She carried a bright and gentle soul that touched countless lives. Her compassion, honesty, and strength inspired everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Above all, Arlena was a devoted and loving mother and the most wonderful grandmother. Being a grandma was her greatest joy in life. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren, loving them, guiding them, and celebrating every moment with them. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she wore the title of "Grandma" with pride and endless love. Arlena will be remembered for her kindness, her wisdom, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, the light she brought into the world will continue to live on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply. She will be missed beyond words and remembered forever with love.
