Arlene Patricia Dee (Gagen)Daughter of Lorraine and James Gagen was born on July 17th 1944 in Flushing, New York and passed away peacefully September 26th 2021 in Venice, Florida.Arlene was a dominant force in her field as a Registered Nurse. She was a welcomed breath for her patients, and a steady hand for her subordinates. Arlene personified beauty and elegance while always being the consummate professional. Arlene was a pioneer in the new age of working Mother's, balancing her 6 children while pursuing and fulfilling her dreams. Arlene had a ferocious work ethic that she passed on to her colleagues and children alike.Arlene leaves behind many colleagues and friends at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where she made her mark. Arlene left a legacy of quality patient care and dedicated service that is hard to match. She was truly a master of the craft of nursing, and will always be remembered as such.Arlene was an avid reader and "sun worshiper" who never went without a good book or solid tan. Arlene was fun, courageous, and fiercely loyal to her family and friends. Her love of telling, and hearing a good story will be sorely missed by all who knew her.Arlene will be reunited in Heaven with her husband of 51 years John J. Dee, her beautiful daughter Kerryanne Dee, and her loving sister Lorraine whom all predeceased her.Arlene is survived by daughter Catherine (Chris), sons John (fiancé Lorraine) Terence (Janine), Daniel (Jill) & Jimmy (Susan), & her adoring sister, Anne Delaney (Ronald). She is the greatest Grandma ever to Kayla, Sean, Erin, Tristan, Kristin, Christopher, James, Josephine, T.J., Brody, and many nieces, nephews and relatives.Arlene was loved and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her or being a part of her life.We ask that donations in-lieu of flowers be made in honor of the Dee Family to the following.Suncoast Humane Society6781 San Casa DriveEnglewood, FL 34224

I was going to post an "Ole Irish Blessing" but I couldn't find one that you'd approve of. You were tough in that sense and I didn't want to mess it up.

If you read this and want to know about my Mom listen to Billy Joel. "She's Always a Woman."

Sums up my Mom in the elegant way that she would want to remembered.

There will never be another Arlene Dee. I only know most of the story and wish I knew the whole thing. She lived an amazing life, re-invented herself many times over all while raising the "circus 6" with our Dad, John J. Dee.

My only hope is that she's finally at peace and done worrying. Take a breath Mom, grab a great book and breath again. You did good and we'll be ok.

Family, Friends, and Faith got you through worst times of our lives and they will continue to carry us now.
