Arlene passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living at the age of 88. The daughter of the late John and Olive (Hilterbrand) Donnelly was born May 6, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. Arlene worked for General Motors from 1955 to 1961 where she met the love of her life. Upon moving to Bay City in 1971, she became a long-time member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, where she was involved in many activities with the church, most notably the church choir. Arlene was considered a “Professional Volunteer”, dedicating time to the Bay City Public Schools, Art Goes to School Program, and the Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association. Arlene was an avid lover of the arts, a member of the Bay City Yacht Club and a diehard Michigan State University fan. Most of all she was known as a loving mom and grandmother to not only her family, but to many people in the community.
Arlene is survived by her three children, Ronald (Sue) Koenig, Kristy (Kevin) Stecker and Keith Koenig; six grandchildren, Laura Koenig, Kylie Koenig, Alexis Obermiller, Megan Stecker, Matthew Koenig and Jeffery Stecker and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Koenig; son, Jeffery Koenig; brother, John “Jack” (Patricia) Donnelly and her sister, Carol Ann Donnelly.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sheffield Bay Assisted Living and Transitions Hospice for the extraordinary care that they gave to Arlene.
