Arlene Maslowski, age 76, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, died on Monday, January 20, 2025 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ after a courageous battle with leukemia and breast cancer.
Arlene was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late Aram and Anne Kazazian. Arlene met the love of her life, Richard, in high school and the pair were married in 1969. They grew their family as they traveled around the country due to Richard's military service; welcoming their first daughter in Bayonne, NJ, their second in Victorville, CA, and their son in Sumter, SC. Eventually, their family settled down in Hopatcong, NJ where she had been a resident for over 45 years.
Since the late '70s Arlene had been a devout parishioner at St. Dunstan's Church, where she found great comfort and peace. She was extremely involved in her church community, serving as a member of the vestry for many years. Those at St. Dunstan's will always remember how beautifully she read in Church.
Arlene was a brilliant woman, who earned her BA from Jersey City State College and went on to have a meaningful teaching career. She had retired from DePaul Catholic High School after teaching mathematics for several years.
Arlene was a truly creative woman who enjoyed many forms of art. She enjoyed creating paintings and forming friendships at the Goldfinches Painting Club. She had a talent for sewing. While growing up all of her children were outfitted in clothes that she lovingly made for them including homemade Halloween costumes, made by her skilled hands. Come Christmas time, she would gift her children and grandchildren homemade personalized hand painted ornaments. She had a love for flowers and birdhouses. Her yard was adorned with multiple birdhouses.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She attended every major milestone and was often in the stands cheering her three grandsons on at baseball and soccer games, sometimes in the cold and the rain. She was extremely proud of them and have left them with many family vacation memories. Arlene will be remembered as a caring, giving and loving woman with a great laugh who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Maslowski; and nieces: Denise and Maria Mattiello.
She is survived by three cherished children, Lori A. Prymak (Peter), Kerri L. Maslowski, and Richard P. Maslowski (Aracely); three grandsons: Dylan Maslowski, Ethan Prymak, and Zackory Prymak; one sister, Diane Filsinger (Michael); and her nephew, Joseph (Jacqueline), and great-niece Giuliana Mattiello.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:30 PM at Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main Street, Netcong, NJ 07857. A funeral service will immediately follow visiting hours at 3:30 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to: NetcongFuneral.com

January 22, 2025

She was my husband´s only Aunt which is why she held a very special place in all our hearts.

Her laugh was loud! Her heart was huge! The love and devotion she had for her family was unmatched. She mastered the making of Dolma and Kufteh so much so that one may even say hers were better than Grams. If you ask me or G it was all about her pumpkin cheesecake!! A usual Thanksgiving request! She was smart and perceptive. Her talent and her artistry when it came to crafting and painting were amazing. I was always excited for holidays and birthdays to see what one of a kind Auntie creation was behind the gift wrap!! A beautifully painted Christmas ornament, a gorgeously sewn wall tapestry, a detailed hand painted piece of home decor or perhaps a one of a kind quilt. Whatever it was I always knew it was made with love and they are pieces I will forever cherish.

The memories...so many amazing memories from the countless holidays to the weekends in LBI that we shared with Auntie will forever live on in our hearts. They will make us smile, they will make us cry, they will make us laugh, they will make us raise our glass with a nod to the heavens above and they will definitely make us cherish every moment we spent with her!

Rest easy Auntie with the angels in Heaven. You deserve it after the hard battle you fought!! We love you! Until we meet again!
