Arlene G. Olstad, age 80, passed away on May 11, 2024 at the Luther Memorial Home.
Arlene was born August 14, 1943 in Northwood, ND to Arnold & Gertrude (Naastad) Morkve. She attended grade school at the Garfield Township school, high school at Hatton and graduated with a degree in Business from Mayville State College.
On July 3rd, 1964 she was united in marriage to Leslie Olstad in Bethany Lutheran Church. The first few years of marriage were spent in Hillsboro, Argusville and Fairmont, ND before settling back in Mayville on the Olstad homestead. Arlene was devoted to her husband until his passing in June, 1996. Arlene was proud of her home. She enjoyed flower gardening to beautify the yard and decorating her home for every holiday. Her favorite holiday was the Fourth of July which typically included an epic water fight. She made sure her grandkids were well armed with the biggest super soaker she could buy, as well as herself.
Arlene was a dedicated employee. She worked at the Hatton Medical Center and Dakota Clinic before beginning her 37 year career as the office manager at the Luther Memorial Home. Arlene also knew how to have fun! She enjoyed traveling to Canada for the Morris Stampede and Medora to take in the musical. She loved visiting the cousins in California and Colorado and usually had a good tale to tell upon return. Her favorite spot was at a lake, camping in the van with days spent sailing and the evenings spent around the campfire with family. In her later years, she made sure every guest enjoyed a donut from the local bakery or pizza from the Pizza Shop over conversation. She loved country music! Many a trip was made to the Minot State Fair to listen to her favorite bands and WeFest was a fun spot for her to catch whoever was playing.
She is survived by her daughter: Michelle (Michael); three grandchildren: Luke, Brenna (Justin) and Austin; her sisters: Marilyn and Linda and many special nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; her brother: Keith; sister: Janet; brothers-in-law: Phil and Ordell and nephew: Kory Stromstad.
Visitation: Will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Service: Will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Hatton, ND.
