Arlene Mildred DesLauriers was born on February 20, 1926, on a farm west of Turton, South Dakota, to Harvey and Mayvne DesLauriers. She attended grade school north of Raymond, South Dakota and then attended and graduated high school in Raymond. On October 2, 1945, Arlene married Robert "Bob" Sutton. They lived and raised their family on a farm west of Clark, South Dakota. In 1974, Arlene and Bob moved to De Smet, South Dakota, where Bob owned the Standard Oil bulk truck and Arlene kept books for the business. She also enjoyed working for Floyd's Jewelry. Arlene was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for many years.

Arlene was an avid card player for her whole life, and she and Bob loved getting together with her siblings, where endless games and laughter were sure to take place. Her family will always remember the many fun holiday gatherings and wonderful meals together on special occasions. Arlene and Bob were enthusiastic sports fans and loved nothing more than supporting their athletic children and grandchildren as they competed in all the sports they were involved in. Arlene was a beautiful woman who dedicated her life to her family and faith. She will be remembered for her incredible energy, loving spirit and warm hugs.

Arlene is survived by her son, Larry (Sandy) Sutton of Brookings, South Dakota, her son, Randy (Cathy) Sutton of Brookings, South Dakota, her beloved grandchildren, Shawn (Karla) Chase, Heidi (Todd) Kludt, Robyn (Brent) Thorpe, Casey (Andrea) Chase, Jill (Nick) Johannsen, Matt (Somer) Sutton, Jaclyn (Micah) Aberson, John (Shanel) Sutton, and Kelsy Sutton, 16 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Mayvne DesLauriers, her devoted husband of 59 years, Robert Sutton, her daughter, Gayle (Gary) Chase, her son-in-law, Gary Chase, seven siblings and spouses, and two granddaughters.
