Hamilton Funeral Home - AugustaArletha Kay Dowacter, 84, of Good Hope, IL passed away peacefully at 5:45 am Friday November 28, 2025 at her home in Good Hope.
She was born on November 2, 1941 in rural McDonough county, IL to Jessie (White) Perkins. On May 12, 1957 she married the love of her life, Sidney Richard Dowacter, in Keokuk IA. They were married 60 years.
Arletha enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, teaching crafts to others, hiking in the mountains and being a wife, mother, and grandma.
She is survived by 3 daughters; Christine Dowacter (Mike) Chase of Good Hope, IL, Carolyn (Randy) Grove of Good Hope, IL and Diana Lynn Dowacter of Macomb, IL. Sisters Arlene Doney, Largo, FL. and Marie Murfin, Springfield , IL. Brothers Larry Murfin, Lakeland FL, John (Bobbi) Murfin, Bloomington, IL. and Terry Murfin, Aurora, Co.
Grandchildren: Carlos Dowacter, Germany, McKinzie (Daniel) Parlier, Roseville, IL. Jose Perez, Good Hope, IL. Diego Perez, Good Hope, IL. Ragan (Michael) Thrasher, Elmwood, IL. Lauren (Scott) Campbell, Queen Creek, AZ. Nine great grandchildren and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sidney, a son, Dannie Dowacter, a brother, Bill Murfin and a sister, Celia Scott.
Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial service will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at Plymouth Circle Community Center, Plymouth, IL. Visitation from 2:00-3:00 pm. Services starting at 3:00 pm
A private family burial will be at Round Prairie Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Good Hope Fire and Rescue, Good Hope, IL or McDonough District Hospital Hospice, Macomb, IL.
The Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta, IL is assisting with the arrangements.
