Arlin Bakken Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poklasny Funeral Home on Jul. 12, 2025.
Arlin H. Bakken, age 65 passed away on July 11, 2025 at his home.
He was born on April 21, 1960 in Troy New York to parents Arlin and Marian Bakken.
Arlin was raised on the family farm in Decorah Iowa, followed by moving to Texas after finishing school, to pursue his passion, landscaping. Everything from planting trees to creating outdoor kitchens, ponds and much more. He was an artist. After more than 20 years of "down south", Arlin relocated to the Oshkosh area to help his sister farm and met the love of his life; Fuzzy Elsinger. They married Nov. 20, 200, having much fun!! If you were lucky enough to indulge in his famous smoked brisket, you knew his other passion, along with "friendly" games of Texas Hold Em.
Always wearing his hat and boots, he was recognized by all and loved by many. Arlin and Fuzzy made a surprise trip to Jack Daniels Distillery in Tennessee and had the time of their lives. He was also a collector of Pez dispensers which led to accumulating thousands!
Arlin was preceded in death by his parents; Arlin and Marian Bakken, Father-in-law; Francis "Buster" Elsinger, Buster's wife; Shirley, brother-in-law; Herky Elsinger and several good friends.
Survivors include his wife; Fuzzy Elsinger-Bakken, Tina (Rod) Brown, Bill (Cindy) Bakken, Brenda (Andy) Hageman, Pattie (Lee) Dorn, Bob (Janet) Elsinger, Brad Elsinger, Goddaughter; Lexi Rynearson and faithful companion; Chico Banana Charles, and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday August 5, 2025 at 12:00 noon at St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart site) 519 Knapp St. in Oshkosh. A time for visitation will be held on Monday August 4 at Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W. South Park Ave) from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume Tuesday August 5 at 11:00 until the time of service at church.
Arlin's family would like to thank Heartland Hospice and the wonderful staff, Tera, Emily, Pao, Leslie and Amy for such tender care and respect they have shown towards Arlin and his family through this difficult time. Also, the dedicated and countless friends who stuck by Arlin and Fuzzy's side till the very end. This village is irreplaceable, God Bless You All!!!
