Arlis Gray Norman, 83, of East Bend, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025. He was born on February 28, 1942, in Forsyth County to the late Estis William Norman and Treva Alene Long Norman. In addition to his parents, Arlis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Elaine Baity Norman and his brother, Wayne Webb “Perk” Norman.
Arlis enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding horses, wagon trains, family chicken stews, meeting friends for a meal at the East Bend Dinette and Mount Olympus. He and his wife loved helping with the tractor pulls in East Bend. He also enjoyed collecting old tractors and classic cars.
Arlis is survived by his cousins, Terry Firle, Harold Brown, Mike Brown, Rita Poplin, Renee Lambert, Sam Poindexter, Pat Davis and Adrian Long. The family would like to give a special thank you to Aaron, Kathryn, and Kylee Brown, Justin, Laura and Mallori Bledsoe for the love, prayers, and friendship shown to Arlis.
Arlis will lie in state at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 9:00 am till 2:30 pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Union Hill Cemetery in East Bend with Pastor Marty Wood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Hill Cemetery or to Mountain Valley Hospice. The family and friends of Arlis would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Clemmons Village II, Assisted Living for their excellent care and compassion during this difficult time. Gentry Family Funeral Service of East Bend is serving the Norman family.
