William Norman Obituary

William Kenneth "Ken" Norman 81, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, with his wife Janet by his side, on Friday December 5, 2025 at Alliance Health at Maples in Wrentham.

Ken is survived by his wife of 58 years Janet (Keough) Norman and his two sons, Christopher and his partner Jessica Bissonnette of Burnham, Maine and Peter and his partner David Ziegler of San Francisco, California.

He was raised in Needham, graduated from Needham High School and attended UMASS Amherst where he earned a Bachelors degree in Marketing and also met his future wife. Ken and Janet were married on August 19, 1967.

Ken served in the Army for 3 years in Army Intelligence, his last year of service was in Vietnam.

In 1970 soon after returning from Vietnam, Ken and Janet moved to Franklin and he began his career at Liberty Mutual Insurance, retiring in 2005 after 36 years.

Ken's favorite vacation spot beginning in his early childhood and continuing with his family for many years was on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. He was an avid reader and loved nothing better than to sit by the lake reading and enjoying the beautiful view.

In his retirement years he enjoyed some travel, but also his volunteer work on numerous Franklin committees among them the Finance Committee, the Board of Assessors, the Friends of the Franklin Library, the Council on Aging and several building committees.

His real passion was the years spent working with Peter Fasciano, Executive Director of Franklin TV on designing and creating a facility to serve the people of Franklin. He served first as Board President, then Treasurer, a position from which he reluctantly resigned just a few days before his passing.

He cherished the many relationships which he had with so many Franklin citizens with whom he served on various committees.

At Ken's request his service and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers donations, to the Friends of the Franklin Library or the Franklin Senior Center in Ken's memory would be welcomed.

The Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. is honored to assist the Norman family.
