Arloene Shy Obituary
Arloene Shy, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, at the Southeast Iowa Hospice House in West Burlington.
Mrs. Shy, the former Arloene Paxton, was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Ollie, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clayton and Holly Paxton. She graduated from the Pekin Community School District High School. She was united in marriage to Daryl D. Shy Sr. Mr. Shy preceded her in death in 2002.
Arloene was the longtime manager of the McLellan Department Store in Washington. Residing in Mount Pleasant for about the past 10 years, she attended the Lincoln Street Baptist Church.
Those thankful for sharing in Arloene's life include her two children, Daryl D. Shy Jr. and his wife Mary, and Barbara Renee Shy, all of Mount Pleasant; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Shy of New York.
Her parents, husband, and three siblings, Frances, James "Jim," and Dean, preceded Arloene in death.
A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Ollie Cemetery in Ollie, where interment will take place.
There will be no visitation at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant, which is caring for Arloene and her family.
