Arlyn Schellberg of Madison died under Hospice care due to cancer on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Madison Care Center at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. John's Lutheran Church, Madison, MN. Rev. Noel Herr will officiate. Burial will be in Hayden Cemetery in Madison.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 4 to 6 PM at the Madison Care Center Chapel with a prayer service at 5:30. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Arlyn Dale Schellberg was born on June 3, 1941 to Harry Schellberg and Minnie Ninneman Schellberg in Big Stone Township, Minnesota. He attended country School District #20 from 1st to 8th grade. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1959.
Arlyn Schellberg and Gail Bahl were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa, MN on September 17, 1960. Arlyn worked for Mnn-Dak egg company from 1962 to 1972, Mid-America Dairy from 1972-1973, Dawson Mills from 1973 to 1983 and UPS from 1984 to 2003.
Arlyn enjoyed antique cars and tractors, auctions, having coffee with family and friends, and jigsaw puzzles. He cherished the rural lifestyle of being in the country on the farm. Arlyn and Gail enjoyed many bus trips across the United States: Alaska, Texas, New York, and Branson, to name a few. Arlyn was also active in St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison. Arlyn suffered a stroke in 2011 and was unable to speak which was challenging and frustrating at times. Arlyn was able to find a way to overcome this disability with determination.
Arlyn is preceded in death by his wife Gail; his parents and in-laws; baby daughter; son Dallas Schellberg; brother Charles Schellberg and wife Harriet; sister, Linda Lee; brothers-in-law: David Beyer, Orville Kienholz, and Earl Hiepler.
He is survived by son, Craig Schellberg and wife Lori; daughter-in-law, Becky Schellberg; son, Douglas Schellberg and fiancé Amy Riemer; grandsons: Grant Schellberg, Levi Schellberg (Kaylynn Rockensock), Kyle Schellberg and Casey Schellberg; step-grandchildren: Christian Dodds, Juliana Dodds; great-grandson, Jackson; step-great-granddaughter, Flora; sister, Geraldine Hiepler; sister-in-law, Gladys Beyer; brother-in-law, Art Lee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church Madison and the Hope Cancer Network.
