Arlyn Monte Stepper

Arlyn Stepper, 72, passed away on October 14, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, the city where he was born and spent much of his life.
Born on August 24, 1953, in Portland, Arlyn grew up in the Pacific Northwest and attended Laurelwood Adventist Academy. He later pursued higher education at Walla Walla College, laying the foundation for a long and dedicated career in public service. Arlyn worked for the Portland Water Bureau for 33 years, ultimately retiring in 2015 as a Public Works Supervisor. His commitment to his work and his community left a lasting impact on the city he called home.
Arlyn was a man who found joy in the great outdoors and the open road. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved camping under the stars in his younger years. During the middle of his life, his adventurous spirit took him across Europe and Asia, and he cherished the experiences and memories made during his travels. A passionate motorcyclist, Arlyn enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and later found a new thrill in his beloved Corvette. Whether on two wheels or four, he embraced the freedom of the road.
Arlyn is survived by his two daughters, Marcy and Jessie and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Merlin Stepper, who passed away in 2019.
A memorial service will be held in Portland, Oregon, honoring Arlyn's life and the many ways he touched those around him.
