Armand John Aswege was born on February 12, 1939, to John and Ethel (Heimann) Aswege. He attended Trinity Lutheran School in Johnson through the eighth grade and graduated high school from West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN.
Immediately following his high school graduation in March of 1957, Armand enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. While working on the family dairy farm, he also served as a rural telephone company serviceman and a school bus driver. Armand took over the family dairy operation in 1964, continuing to milk cows for the next 30 years. In 1992, he began selling seed for Gold Country. Armand also worked for States Border Construction for many years, with the Vold family, who were dear friends. He also worked for Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Homes for more than 20 years.
On October 10, 1964, Armand married Garnet Running, the "cute little redhead from Johnson" (as he would call her) and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. They were blessed with two children, Troy and Tracy.
A man of deep faith and service, Armand was a lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Mount Olive Lutheran Church, serving many roles over the years. He had a knack for storytelling and a contagious laugh. He loved bowling, golf, and playing cards with family and friends. He took pride in maintaining a clean car and a well-groomed yard. He found much joy in spending time with his grandchildren, always finding a way to make them laugh.
Armand is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Garnet; his children: Troy (Brenda) Aswege of West Fargo, ND; and Tracy (Ron) Zach of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Elaine (George) Harstad; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel; and his sister, Joyce Rund.
