Obituary published on Legacy.com by McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. on Jan. 29, 2026.
Armando "Al" Spaziani, a 10-year resident of
Fishkill, NY, passed away following a three month battle of multiple health issues and was surrounded by his family at home on January, 29, 2026, just 4 short days past his 95th birthday.
Armando was born the youngest of seven boys to Tito and Cesira (Salamone) Spaziani on January 25, 1931 in the village of Genzano (L'Aquila, Italy). In 1947, he immigrated with his family aboard the USS Marine Perch to Manhattan and soon afterwards settled in Bensonhurst,
Brooklyn, NY.
Armando could always be described as industrious and determined. Through decades of hard work, he prospered and built a strong foundation, grounded in integrity, for his family. Upon arriving in the U.S., he immediately began working various jobs-including driving a banana delivery truck -while pursuing English and trade school courses in the evenings. His career pursuits evolved into a Local 638 Steamfitter in the NYC high-rise construction industry where he moved up the corporate ladder during his 35-year career in a private company. At much risk and later in his career, he partnered and ultimately years later completed his career as a Principal and Executive in a self-propelled, publicly-traded, mechanical engineering/HVAC company.
On one evening in 1952 while at a dance hall, he was introduced to Maria Anna Morelli who had emigrated from Caporciano, Italy, the town next to his. On October 22, 1955, they married at the Regina Pacis Votive Shrine in Brooklyn.
In his younger years, Armando was the life of the party, never passing up the opportunity to attend a social gathering. In his later years, he was happiest at the table with a big bowl of gnocchi, a gallon of Carlo Rossi Merlot within arm's reach, and surrounded by his family.
Al was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. He was an Honorary-Life, 65-year Sir Knight member of the Knights of Columbus where he held many leadership positions in Kings County, Brooklyn including PGK, FDD, CoB DD, and PCC. Upon moving "upstate," Armando transferred his memberships to actively participate with his son, Anthony, at St. Mary's Council #4065 and St. John Paul II #2917 Fourth Degree Assembly, both in Fishkill, N.Y.
He is predeceased by his wife, Maria Spaziani, whose deep love and devotion to her family and faith was unwavering, along with his parents, brothers Balduino, John, Elio, Philip, Domenick and Joseph, as well as his beloved nieces, nephew, and many other loved ones.
Armando leaves behind his loving sons, Joseph T. Spaziani & his partner Darlene Tierney of Naples, FL and Anthony T. Spaziani & his wife Jeanne of Stormville; his granddaughters, Victoria Spaziani and Teresa Liberti & her husband Frank of Charlotte, NC; his many nieces and nephews across three generations, including Gaetano Spaziani, Anthony & Lorrie Spaziani and their children Steven & Daniella. Rocco Rillotta, Joseph Rillotta (Ashley & son), Maria Beresky (Joseph & sons), John Rillotta, Giuseppina Avalle, Tito Avalle (Valeria & children), and Alia Avalle.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, January 31 and Sunday, February 1 at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, 1089 Main Street,
Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am on Monday, February 2 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street,
Fishkill, NY. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4199 Webster Avenue, Bronx, NY.
