Bath, Maine- Armelle Theresa (Sylvestre) Samet age 91, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with her loving daughters by her side. Born on May 8th, 1934, in Biddeford, Maine the oldest daughter of the late Robert Sylvestre and Antoinette (Labbe) Sylvestre. She is the beloved (darling) wife of the late Sheldon (Sam) Samet of 67 years (Brooklyn, NY.) She is survived by her three children, Diane (Samet) Arena (son n law Peter Arena) of Maine, Renée (Samet) Buck & Jack Samet of Florida. Armelle was Memere to her three Grandchildren Corey Buck, Courtney Arena and Julian Samet, and two great grandchildren Diana and Ari (Arena) Ferraro. Armelle is survived by her sister Suzanne Severance of Ohio, René Sylvester and late sister Nancy Benoit of Maine. Armelle attended and cheered at Brunswick High School, Class of 1952. If she wasn't cheering, she was dancing her heart out. Also in 1952, Armelle met and married Sheldon, then stationed at the Brunswick Naval Station. A year later moving to, Brooklyn, NY, then relocating to Merrick, L.I. New York in 1962, where she raised her three children. Although a small town girl, "Amy" adapted quickly to life in New York. She enjoyed trips to the theatre in Manhattan, Saturday nights with friends, and had a flare for fashion and the latest trends. Later she enjoyed work in the administrative and assistant side of the medical field as well as retail. She created beautiful window displays adding to her many talents. Armelle and Sheldon were known for hosting the most memorable annual Christmas parties on Long Island no matter your faith! Together Armelle and Shel were a comical duo, truly engaging, never dull. In 1991 they moved to Brunswick Maine. Here she enjoyed reconnecting with her family, siblings, and friends. Revisiting her old stomping grounds, and childhood memories like Old Orchard Beach. She found her greatest joy in attending school sporting events such as basketball and football games, cheering and motocross. Armelle relished being an Aunt maintaining very close relationships with her nieces and nephews. Next stop Armelle became yet again, the social butterfly she was when moving to central Florida in 2006. Her talent for art truly super-ceded a typical class. Painting, sculpture, ceramics, calligraphy, knitting, needlepoint and crocheting just to name a few. She joined the Red Hatters and arranged charters to the Hard Rock Casino once a month in their community. After her active years in Florida she returned to Bath, Maine in 2015, where she called home. Armelle still met with high school girlfriends for weekly lunches until her passing. Armelle loved family and they truly loved her. She will be missed but continue to make us laugh through all the memories she gave us.
