Arnold "Mac" McConnell, age 84 of Germantown, OH passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on October 30, 2023. He was born in Springfield, OH to the late Gibson and Frances (Weston) McConnell and graduated from Roosevelt High School, class of 57. Mac worked at General Motors for over 30 years before retiring in 1998, while working he attended Moody Bible Institute via their correspondence ministry courses and became an ordained minister in 1999. Mac enjoyed his years in ministry, working at a few different Churches of God, one was the First Church of God in Germantown where he was a visitation minister and a music minister and finally ending his ministry at Northside Chapel in Camden as an associate pastor and music minister. Mac always had a smile on his face, he enjoyed classic cars and playing games, but he especially loved his family and spending time with them. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Gibson Jr., Harley, William, John, Daisy, Anna, and his in-laws Peter and Georgia Courlas. Mac is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary (Courlas) McConnell, his daughters Coleen (Marvin) Ratliff, Becky (Tom) Wetzel, Karen (Jim) Douglass, grandchildren Brian (Emily) Ratliff, Mark (Ashley) Ratliff, Leanne (Keith) Groach, Tabitha (Evan) Blanton, Lindsey Douglass, great grandchildren Ella, Will, Grace, and Joel Ratliff, Eve & Thomas Groach and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss his smile and laughter dearly. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 from 6-8pm at the Germantown First Church of God, 760 Farmersville Pike, Germantown OH 45327. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, November 3rd beginning at 10am, burial immediately following at Preble Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton.
