ARNOLD “DEE” MATTHEWS, age 91 of Dandridge, TN passed away Sunday morning, January 28, 2024 at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and was of the Baptist faith. Dee retired from the Tennessee Highway Department after 30 years of dedicated service. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching games on T.V. and he also found enjoyment in feeding the birds and taking care of his animals, He was the son of the late Clifford and Lou Nettie (Morgan) Matthews and was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Vinyard (McCampbell) Matthews; son, Johnny Matthews; sisters, Ethel Garrett and Bertha Tipton; brothers, Arlie, Lawson, Frank, Charles Winfred and Lon Matthews. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Edna McCampbell, Lillie Matthews, and Faye Matthews: brother-in-law, David McCampbell, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, 2:00pm at Fain Cemetery with Rev. Carl Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge.
