Arnold P. Smith

Arnold P Smith, 86, passed away peacefully at his beloved home on Friday February 2nd. 

Born October 16, 1937, in Montgomery County, North Carolina. He is the son of the late Pinkney and Emma Smith. 

Arnold cherished time with his family, farming, and telling tall tales. Arnold was a dedicated employee for B.B Walker’s for over 30 years as Vice President of Industrial Engineering. 

Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Mary Cole Smith of 65 years. Two daughters, Amy Lax of Archdale, and Sheila Embler (Dean) of Carolina Beach. Grandchildren Chad Bazen (Amber), Lindsey Buchser (John), Brittany Lax, and Zachary Lax. Great Granddaughter Emma Bazen. Siblings, Clara Garner, Peggy Cox, Mamie Manness (Butch) and Archie Smith (Pauline) God- Granddaughters: Brooke Splawn, Harley Nemeth, and Sophia Dickens and many loving nieces and nephews. Arnold was also blessed with half siblings and many dear friends. 

Preceded in death by James Smith, Alice Martin, P.B. Smith, and Susie Seamans, sons-in-law Leonard Bazen and Steve Lax.

Services will be held at Center Cross Baptist Church, Asheboro N.C. on February 6, 2024 at 3:00 pm. The family will be receiving family and friends prior to the celebration of life at 2 pm at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
