Arnold "Arnie" W Thur, 79 of Greenwood WI died on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at House of the Dove in Marshfield, WI.
Arnie was born February 17, 1945 in Neillsville, WI to Ervin and Cora (Frank) Thur. Later his family moved to Fairchild WI and was raised on the family farm with his siblings. Arnie married his high school sweetheart Kathryn "Kathy" Hehl on August 22, 1964, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past August. They started their marital life in Sun Prairie, WI, and moving to Neillsville, WI to raise their children. Arnie was employed at the, Porcelain Plant, Neillsville Foundry, was self-employed repairing small engines and after retiring worked part time for Gross Motors maintaining the laundry mat. Arnie was known for his love of working in his garden, canning pickles, fishing, watching NASCAR and enjoying time with his family and friends.
Arnie is survived by his wife Kathy of Greenwood, WI, daughter Jackie (Garry) McDonell of Neillsville, WI and sons, Jeffrey Thur of Neillsville, WI and Jeremy Thur of Greenwood, WI. Seven grandchildren, Jamie (James) Wampole, Megan (ViJay Krishnan) McDonell, Nicole Egland (Ryan Arnett), Justin Thur, Brianna (Donavan) Risch, Aiden Swenson, Amber (Cody) Kallian and Cody Thur, 13 great grandchildren, one sister Betty (Gene) Hehl and sister-in-law Carol Thur, brother in laws, Glenn (Carol) Peterson and Ronald (Linda) Peterson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, three brothers, eight sister in laws, three brother in laws, and a nephew.
A private Celebration of Arnold's life will be held at a future date.
