Arthur "Andy" Anderson, age 61, of Killeen passed away at his home with his wife by his side on Friday, August 8, 2025. He was born in Peru but was blessed to be adopted by a loving family. His father Phil D. and mother Marjorie Anderson were so full of joy to be able to call him their son. After his adopted father Phil passed, he was raised by Wayne Parks with whom he considered to be his dad until his passing.
He grew up in Tucson, AZ, going to school and graduating but decided to spread his wings and venture out into the world. He joined the U.S. Army and served our country proudly for 6 years until he was honorably discharged. Andy would meet the love of his life Carolyn Quilhot and they would get married in Killeen, TX in August of 2003. They would begin a life of love and devotion to each other until his passing. He worked at Darnell Army Medical Center in Killeen for 31 years as a civil servant being a medical technician, working in Urology and ENT helping those who also felt the call to serve in the army.
Andy and Carolyn lived in Killeen, enjoying their remaining years together after retirement, making many memories to hold unto for all time. He loved hanging out with his friends at Applebee's and going out for long drives in the country just enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. He always wanted to go to Washington state in search of the infamous Bigfoot but was not able to go on that adventure. He cheered on the Dallas Cowboys all through the years. Andy liked to search for treasure at garage sales and meeting people from the surrounding communities. He had a great love for his fur babies; they always held a special place in his heart. Andy will be missed by all who came to know him whether through his service to our country, work, or just knowing how great a guy he was.
He was preceded in death by his adopted father, Phil and also his stepfather, Wayne Parks.
Andy leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn Anderson of Killeen and his mother, Marjorie Parks of Tucson, AZ. He also has a sister, Candace Leyvas and nephew Matthew Leyvas both from AZ. They will always cherish memories they created together, and his fur babies will miss their snuggles and naps on his lap, but he is now in a place of peace and joy. He will always be watching from above and blessing those left behind until they all meet again.
Graveside services for Andy will be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11 o'clock a.m. with military honors.
Hewett-Arney Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of all arrangements.
