Arthur Bauer Obituary

Arthur "Art" Edmund Bauer, Jr., 66, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at his home in Londonderry, NH. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Denise; three sons, Jack, Dan, and Jim; Jack's fiancée, Audrey Blackmon; two sisters, Judy Perry and Linda Moody; brother-in-law, Tommy Moody; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was born on July 12, 1957 in Malden, MA to the late Margaret (McCallan) Bauer and Arthur Bauer. A 1975 graduate of Malden High School, Arthur remained in Malden until meeting Denise at his friend's wedding.

A frugal man who was always reluctant to spend money, Denise was the opposite, often surprising him with home improvement projects and even new pets. Two of those surprises, Corkie the Yorkie and Sandie, quickly became Art's favorite additions to the household, as he spent many of his later years bonding and sharing meals with his loyal companion dogs. As Art's health declined in later years, Denise was not only a wife, but a loving caretaker, accommodating his limited mobility with home renovations, medical transportation, and filling perhaps his most important prescription, laughter.

Although his Dad struggled to figure out how to use his phone, Jack enjoyed their weekly phone calls after moving away from New Hampshire. Art's impeccable sense of direction ("shot" cuts) and having a "place for everything" was passed on to his oldest son. Jack's middle name, Arthur, will help keep his Dad's memory alive.

Art also imparted his punny humor, affinity for napkin hoarding, and musicality in middle son, Dan, introducing him to drumming and attending Dan's first concert together.

Jim loved his father very much and always cared about his wellbeing. He shares the same birthday as his Dad, inherited his father's sense of humor, appreciation of the "little things" in life, and the importance of family.

Aside from spending time at home with his family, Art's happy place was behind a drum set. Art was Deep Purple's number one fan and attended countless concerts featuring his favorite bands. He and his bandmates shared not only a stage, but musical memories, camaraderie, and plenty of laughter along the way. Drumming was a true cymbal of Art's happiness. He will be dearly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 9 - 11 AM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. I met Art at the "Picking Parlor" in candia several years ago.I would wait my turn to drum after he was done.I saw him "many" more times at "Parlor" jams at Bedford Bobs house or, Rick Joyner's house. And ,he once came to my "Mavro Music Studio" to play.He was a soft spoken, engaging., kind soul who will be missed.
