Arthur L. (Roy) Bormann was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Noah L. and Kate Bormann, on April 17, 1922. At the age of four, the family moved to McAllen, Texas where his father opened Standard Supply Company. Roy graduated from McAllen High School in 1939, returning the next year to take advantage of a year of postgraduate school. He worked with his father at Standard Supply.

In 1942, Roy married Helen Howard and they moved to Rio Grande City where he worked under Civil Service at Fort Ringgold and was in charge of the Motor Pool. After Pearl Harbor, Roy enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed at Moore Field working as a Personnel Clerk, and later as a dispatcher in the Instrument Training Group. He was later transferred to Lowry Field in Denver to attend Photo School. His last assignment was at Richmond Air Force Base, Richmond, VA., where he was NCO in charge of the Photo Lab. After being discharged from the Army Air Corps, he and Helen returned to McAllen where he began working in the McAllen Post Office where he worked until his retirement in 1981.

Roy had a strong faith in God and loved his family. Roy worked faithfully in his church and was instrumental in organizing Central Christian Church and School in McAllen. When they lived in Fredericksburg, Roy was ordained a deacon of First Baptist Church and served on pastor Search Committees and the Building Committee.
