Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2009.
Arthur Ross Carmichael, 84, of Glassboro, passed on July 26, 2009 in the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Division in Pomona. Legacy Ross Carmichael was a fun-loving man; a nurturing father, who was very much devoted to his family. He was good dancer and a great whistler. Christmas and New Year were special holidays in the Carmichael home. Christmas was always preceded with a great family party which grew larger over the years, as the family grew. Ross was a member of the Hegeman String Band and other organizations associated with making the Mummers Parade such an enjoyable event. As a hobby, Ross made lawn ornaments. As fast as he could make them, his wife, Mary sold them. Many of Ross's creations dot lawns throughout the area. Ross was born in Philadelphia. He entered the US Army in 1943 and saw battle in Europe. Ross received the Purple Heart for wounds received in France on March 7, 1945. When Ross returned to America, he worked for the City of Philadelphia, New York Shipyard and the Bellmawr School Board. Ross leaves behind an empire of love and good-feelings. Family Husband of the late Mary Carmichael. Ross is survived by his children, Arthur R. Carmichael; Ed Carmichael (Anna Marie); Bill Carmichael (Maria); Kathy Secreto (Joe); Sue Dankanich (Mike); Joan Paylor (Al); June Scarantino (Steve); Elizabeth Dutill and Linda D'Amico (John).
