Arthur Buford Coleman, a cherished figure and stalwart of the community, passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on September 11, 1933, in Talladega County, Alabama, he exemplified the values of hard work, dedication, and loving family throughout his life.
A proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Buford served his country with honor and distinction, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him a deep sense of duty to his community. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and build Coleman Cabinets, a testament to his craftsmanship and commitment to quality that resonated within the hearts and homes of many families.
Buford had a great love for Auburn Football, passionately following his team through the highs and lows of the sport. His roots in football began earlier in life, having played for The Reeltown Rattlers during his high school years, before they proudly transformed into the Reeltown Rebels. This love for the game echoed through his family and became a cherished part of their shared experiences.
He is survived by his dear children, Arthur Wayne Coleman (Cathy), Donna McGinty (John), and Jerry Michael Coleman (Penny); brother, Mervin Coleman (Terry). Buford’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren—Jonathon Coleman (Jennifer), James Coleman (Christy), Kari Busby (Lee), Heather Palmore (Chad), Nicole Ward (James), Dustin McGinty, Candie Harris, Kayla Hayden (AJ), Jodie Millwood, and Joseph Millwood—all of whom carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. His family continues to grow, now embracing fourteen great-grandchildren, who will forever know the warmth of their great-grandfather’s nurturing spirit.
Mr. Coleman is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Martha Strong Coleman, whose love and partnership were foundational pillars in his life. He also mourns the loss of his parents, Tom Arthur and Vera Vance Coleman, as well as his sisters, Elinor Jones, Glenda Weeks, Murlene Taunton and Harriett Reamer, whose memories remain cherished.
As we remember Arthur Buford Coleman, let us celebrate a life rich in love, service, and devotion—a life that brought joy to many and lessons that will resonate through generations.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at Salem Macon Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Macon Baptist Cemetery. Jeffcoat Funeral Home directing.
