Arthur Cooper

Arthur Lee Cooper of 90 Park St. formally of 48 Pond St. New Haven, CT entered into eternal rest on April 24, 2023. He was born on May 24, 1953 in Williamsburg County, SC to the late Willie Joe and Florence K. Pressley Cooper.
Arthur grew up on Nesmith, SC where he attended Battery Park Elementary School and St. Mark Elementary School in Kingstree, S.C. He then moved to New Haven, CT with his family and attended Troup Middle School and graduated from James Hillhouse High School in 1970. He then completed his apprenticeship to become a License Plumber.
Arthur attended Friendship Methodist UAME Church in Nesmith, SC where he was a member of the youth choir in his younger years. He attended St. Paul's Church then later joined New Birth Church of Christ in Hamden, CT where he was a base guitar player. He loved singing, playing his guitar and doing karate.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son Ja-Juan Newton(Laronda); four grandchildren Ja'shya, Ja'laya, Jayce and Ja-Juan Jr. all of New Haven, CT; three sisters Mary Williams & Charrvan Collins(John) of West Haven, CT & Margaret McFadden of Ryleigh, NC.; one brother Alvin Cooper of Hamden, CT; two aunts Rachael Hairston and Lucille Pressley both of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle Findley Brown of Lindin, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by two brothers Johnnie and Willie J. Cooper Jr.; two sisters Pearlie Mae James and Bessie Sessions Olique.
