It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sam Rollinson Sr., A.K.A. "Pompey or Cool Cat," who left this life on January 15, 2026, at the age of Seventy-Five, at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT. He was born on December 24, 1950, in St. Stephen, South Carolina, and throughout his life, he has touched the hearts of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.

Sam Rollinson was raised in the south, graduating from Russellville High School, home of the Dragons, Class of 1970, St. Stephens, SC. Sam inspired everyone along with his teammates with his brilliant performances as a Running Back. His performance inspired his teammates to recognize him as "Cool CAT"! After High Scholl he decided to pursue his career by moving to New Haven, CT. From that point, he met his beloved wife and had two children. He continued to work for 44 years and retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He loves to dance, while he brought joy and laughter to every gathering, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory of his late spouse, Viola "Bootsie" Rollinson (2017). Children: Son, Sam Rollinson Jr. {deceased}, Daughter: LaVerne Rollinson-Ofori of Middletown, CT, Grandchild: Isaiah J. Anderson, of Middletown, CT. Sisters: (7) in all: Joetta Addison (Earnest) of St. Stephen, SC. Betty Rollerson of Columbia, SC. Linda Rollerson of Salters, SC. Minnie Rollerson-Marion (Donald) of Jacksonville, FL. Brother: Albert Rollerson Jr. of Columbia, SC. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, all relatives and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition, preceded in death by his Parents: Lelar Rollerson (Middleton) and Albert Rollerson. Sisters (cont.): Barbara Gadsden, Ruth R. Blanding, and Rosa R. Beauford. Brother: Isaac Rollerson.

A memorial service to celebrate Sam Rollinson Seniors life will be held on January 31, 2026, at McClam Funeral Home, found at 95 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT. Family, and friends are invited to share memories and honor his remarkable journey.

Sam Rollinson Sr. will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.

This cousin Dteve C Davis currently residing in the Forty One Community the birthplace of this quiet respected individual whom we affectionately call Pompey! I have fond childhood memories of his courage and integrity and inspiration for others similar situated with aspirations to become a quality leader in and off the gridiron! I say without hesitation that he made a tremendous impact upon youngsters like myself who in vision making our mark upon the world! Truly Pompey was a wonderful gift from God! I am deeply saddened my his passing however his legacy shall go forth! Proud to have known him and share the same birthplace! To the Family please accept The Davis family condolences and know that we share in your loss and greaves with the immediate family! To God be Glory!
