I am so shocked & saddened by the passing of a true Legend,our Arthur Crofton ,he was a very special client but most of all a very special friend to me for over the last seven years. I was so honored to be Arthur Crofton`s personal hairdresser..
When Arthur first sat in my chair, he made me feel so special and said, however, you do my hair and you´re happy with it.. then I will be happy with it. I don´t need to look at the back of my hair because I trust your judgment & I trust you do your craft well
I explained to Arthur how I would listen to his radio show without fail every morning for almost 15 years, taking my daughters to school and also he announced their birthdays on the air and we have a special bond with us both being native Brits!!!
Arthur was such a gentleman , he would open the door when my client came into my studio and I would always introduce Arthur to all of my clients, and they loved to listen to some of his stories and he gave his time un selfishly, he was a very humbled man & so proud of his heritage and I´m so blessed & Honored that I finally got to meet The Arthur Crofton in person & I´ll cherish our time we gad together. He had a standing appointment every 4 Wk´s that he never missed & was very loyal to me. Thankyou Arthur for your friendship that meant so much to me,, I will miss you very much, and Jacksonville will never be the same without you. You are the voice of Jacksonville and always will be but I know you would say life goes on and we are all here for the time we are given and that I will keep in my mind to help me through my sadness.
He would share so many amazing stories that I´ve stored in my head.
One day, my client mentioned she heard Arthur mention my name on the air of 96.1 a couple of times and because I didn´t tune in to the radio show anymore as my daughters are all grown up and we no longer travel listen to the radio like we did in the morning. My client said "Vicky Arthur mentioned you on the radio today" and I was always grateful for him thinking of me and promoting my business.
The last time that I saw Arthur, he was getting ready to go over to the UK and I gave him his lovely haircut all fresh for his holiday. I told him to enjoy every minute of it being with his family that he loved so much ,he was so looking forward to this trip. I told him to have a safe journey there and a safe journey back and he gave me the biggest hug and I´m still holding onto that, there´s a big empty space in my hearts right now. i´m still in disbelief .
My deepest sympathy and condolences to Arthur´s family , friends , cohost Yvonne and all of the colleagues at the radio station of 96.1 and all his P1 fans & loyal listeners who tuned in to listen to his lovely unforgettable voice every morning! All his knowledge he shared with Jacksonville over all these decades he will always be "The voice of Jacksonville !!!! "
God bless you, Arthur may you rest in peace and I hope that I meet you up in heaven when my time arrives until then cheerio mate!!
This photo fills my heart with so many memories. It was my last time that I saw Arthur and my last hug before he went on his holiday and he was so kind to allow me to capture this special moment that I never knew would be the last time I would see Arthur. He was a very private man outside the public eye. Thankyou Arthur for this beautiful photo of our friendship. Xx I miss you so much.

I have known Arthur for many years. I remember going to the "Jelly Bean" parties he hosted back in the 80's and his "going away" party when he left Jax for a short time.

Had a lovely time hanging out with Arthur at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance one year; we were both otherwise on our own for the Sunday show and spent the day enjoying the cars together. He was a good guy and had that marvelous voice everyone will miss. R.I.P., my friend. Hope you're driving a Jag through the pearly gates!

I am crushed by this heartbreaking news. I've known Arthur since I started listening in 2006. He was a community treasure in addition to being a broadcasting legend. I've spoken with Arthur an innumerable number of times through the years and met him on many occasions. I've met his charming wife, Laurie Crofton, on several occasions. I'm sending my sincere condolences and prayers to Laurie, Arthur's family and his Renda Broadcasting family. We are all better for having known Arthur Crofton. RIP, my friend.
