A celebration of the life of Arthur Dunham, 96, of Chandler, is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Chandler Memorial Funeral Home, with Shaun Black officiating.
Mr. Dunham passed away on March 29, 2025, in Tyler.
Arthur Howard Dunham was born on March 21, 1929, in Woodbridge, New Jersey, to Byron V.R. Dunham Sr. and Ellen Caroline (Bensinger) Dunham. He graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1946 and then completed graduate work at Pennington Prep in Pennington, New Jersey, from 1946 to 1947. His favorite hobbies were tennis, and he loved spending time on his pen and ink art.
In 1948, Arthur began his career as a professional baseball player, signing with the New York Giants organization at the age of 18. He would then spend eleven years playing professional baseball with various teams, including two years of service in the United States Army. Arthur married Ruth "Bunnie" Kuzma on September 15, 1951, which was a highlight of his life. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Ruth (Kuzma) Dunham; by his brother, Byron V.R. Dunham, Jr; and by his wife, Nancy (Younger) Dunham.
Survivors include his children, Christine Dunham Zembower of Chandler and Jeffrey Dunham and wife Susan of Edgewood; his grandchildren, Zachary Zembower of Montclair, New Jersey, Jennifer Dunham of Rockwall, Heather Seay and husband Dean of Edgewood, Brooke Keith and husband Josh of Canton; and great-grandchildren, Audri Dunham, Connor Seay, Carson Seay, Carter Seay, Jaxon Keith, and Caroline Keith.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Chandler Memorial Funeral Home family.
