It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bobby Earl Ball, a man whose kindness, gentleness, and dedication to others touched the lives of everyone he met. Bobby passed away on March 26, 2025 leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering loyalty for his family, friends, and community.
Born in Port Arthur and raised in Brownsboro, Texas, Bobby grew up loving life in the country with his three brothers, Richard, Jerry and Tom and several of his Horton cousins. From a young age, he exhibited the values of hard work, integrity, and a quiet strength that would guide him throughout his life. He graduated Salutatorian from Brownsboro High School in 1966 and went on to receive his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin.
He dedicated his lifelong career to helping others, serving the community as a devoted pharmacist at Chandler Drug. With his quiet demeanor and a warm smile, he was a familiar face and a listening ear at the drug store for over 50 years. He often selflessly answered after-hours calls to fill prescriptions for the nursing home or for anyone who needed their medicine before morning.
A loving husband to his wife, Bing, and father to his daughters Cindy and Stephanie, and sons-in-law Sean and Andrew, Bob cherished his family above all else, finding joy in the simple moments spent together. They loved sharing meals, whether eating out or Bing's Filipino cooking, admiring the beauty of nature, and watching ballgames together. As a grandfather, "Papa" delighted in watching his grandsons Benji and Miles grow, offering them guidance, encouragement and love along the way.
To many in the Filipino community of Tyler, he was "Uncle Bob." His caring and compassion made him a second father-figure to the nurses who worked alongside Bing.
An avid sports fan, Bob found joy in cheering for his favorite teams, the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, and especially the University of Texas Longhorns. He took great pride in his alma mater, always eager to cheer on his teams with enthusiasm and passion, and ready to flash a smile and a "Hook-em" sign to both fellow supporters and rivals alike.
Bob was a long-time member of First Methodist Church, Chandler where he served on the Board of Trustees for many years. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he found great fulfillment in worshipping with his church community.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched through his work and selfless acts of kindness. His legacy of compassion, loyalty, and generosity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
